Unconventional
Brain teasers and cases with no standard structure. Structure still wins; the structure just has to be built on the spot.
- Turn it into a formula
- Walk the journey
- Bucket everything
Watch out: Choose one approach and say why; mixing all three sounds unstructured.
On a case
How can India win the next Cricket World Cup?
- Talent pipeline
- School and grassroots cricket
- Domestic leagues
- Team performance
- Selection
- Fitness
- Coaching and analytics
- Match conditions
- Scheduling and travel
- Preparing for the venues
Illustrative case. Figures and conditions below are assumptions for practice, not market data.
Clarify what can be controlled before trying to guarantee a World Cup win. Assume the client is a cricket board choosing how to improve performance before the next tournament. Separate talent and selection, match preparation, fitness and conditions; tournament outcomes remain uncertain.
For a small calculation, suppose one bowling improvement reduces expected runs conceded by five per match across nine scheduled matches. That is 45 expected runs in total, not 45 extra wins or a guarantee of qualification. Check that the change is achievable without weakening batting or increasing injury risk.
Recommend a targeted training and selection pilot using performance under comparable conditions. Track availability and role-specific results before expanding. Sanity-check whether the proposed intervention addresses the largest observed weakness rather than the most memorable recent loss.
